OCRC Raceway in Huntington Beach has just completed construction of a brand new carpet track. The size is 75' x 75', features CRC Ozite and the CRC Clik-Trak barrier system, a tall and solid driver's stand, and ample fluorescent lighting. This is the first permanent carpet facility in the SoCal area at least 8 years, and we're expecting a to see huge resurgence of onroad racing this summer. With the 1/12th scale pan cars beginning to transition into the new, 1cell lipo batteries, we have a strong suspicion that this will become the fastest growing class during the summer months. There's a hearty thread going over at RCTech and you can read it here.
We hope that all racers will come out to see the new facility when OCRC officially hosts it's first club race on June 6th, 2009. Thanks to Joel Navarro for allowing us to publish the first few photos of the track (above) and special thanks to Robert Black for creating such an amazing facility.
Will OCRC and Scotty Ernst host an official "IIC Warm Up Race" later this summer? We sure hope so. Stay tuned....
